Here's What Our Competitors Have To Say:

"Hey Jim, This is Paul Mann. I competed in the 160 to 180 lb. weight class. I just wanted to let you know that for me, the tournament was great. There were many top grapplers and a lot of new talent that I wasn't so familiar with. Although I lost in a close match against Derek Leyrer, you can definitely count on me returning to some future events to compete again. I also appreciated the respect, integrity, and overall environment you encouraged there as well. I look forward to competing in "T.G.F." in the future. Thanks again Jim!"

"I had a great time at the tournament Saturday and was happy to go home with a very hard earned bronze in the 169lb Gi division. :) I was asked to provide a review of the tournament by a popular BJJ Podcast and blog (they have well over "600,000" subscribers). Read Dog Fight in Dover Review Here!

I enjoyed the tournament and look forward to going to the next one in PA. I am happy to spread the word and hopefully this will get you good publicity and grow this circuit with more competitors. Again, great tournament. Look forward to competing in more."

"Just got done with Dog Fight...Great day of fighting. Harder guys than in any of my NAGA fights. Thanks for all your attention when I was with the medics.  All in all, 2nd place from your fights feels pretty good. Awesome medals. Everything from the weigh-ins to the fights went extremely smooth, great job. Can't wait till next year."

"Our team, Team Viper walked away with 2 golds, 2 silvers and 3 bronzes and me and another teammate both placed a close 4th in our no-gi divisions. I know our team is planning to participate in your next event in March, I will however be on my honeymoon so won't be able to attend that one but can't wait till your next event I can attend. Thanks again and great job man!!"

"Jim, thank you for adding my academy's name next to the placement results so quickly you guys run a great event love to compete in all your tournaments!"

Darwin Chang

"Just wanted to say great job. Tourney was well ran good Refs overall great job. We will be comming back for sure, with more school members. Thank You!"

Rich Longo Madama/Serra BJJ

"I was there with my son Dante, and he had a very fun day. The night before weigh-in is a nice offering, posting the brackets on the wall was also nice. Making the divisions larger to make sure that there was a good group for each division was smart, and staff was very accommodating with people who had concerns about the size or age ranges being too large. Keep up the good work and don't be afraid to try and ask more volunteers to help out. And BTW, Dante really likes his swords!"

Regards, Joe Cianfarra

"Jim, Great Tournament!"

Joe Milaro (KPOZ)

"Hi Jim...Great event last weekend; thank you for running a professional competition."

Paul Lopresti

"I had a fine time at the tournament.  it was excellent and comfortable for my first time.  It was a nice intro to the sport."

Samual Manrique

"Thank you so much Jim for giving me the opportunity to go for 200 dollars at the superfight in Cherry Hill Challenge against Derek Lyrer. Even though I got destroyed by him, it was a pleasure going against a much better guy like him. Thank you once again!"

Nicholas Caggia - ENDGAME

"I just wanted to let you know that this was our first time participating in an event with you and it was a great experience. Everything seemed to go very smoothly from our opinion.   My son ended up winning first in the Gi and No Gi and he was very excited about the Samurai Swords.  We ended up finishing up and leaving before 1:00 pm and that was so nice.  We hope to participate in your Thanksgiving event also."

Richard Caputo

"Hey Jim, I really enjoy the good fights, and I will be doing as many as I can. The ocean city tournament went very smoothy for me, and i had alot of fun. I like the location its was nice. While i was doing the fights my family were on the beach enjoying the sun. This made it very easy to be there and watch my friends compete. Thanks again it was great! The date was fine for me because I made a weekend out of it; as far as my team mates they left shortly after. Registration is fair and afforable. I can't really think of any thing you guys can change like i said everything was great. thanks again"

Ian Cronin

"The thing that I liked the most is that you gave awards to the fourth place person.  That was great.  I also liked getting a discount by signing up two kids, we all know this sport is very costly even more so when you have two children in it."

Beth Ann McCourt

"I had a great time at the event on Saturday and I plan to compete in the event in July."

Mike Avila - Spear Jiu Jitsu

"This was my first ever tournament and I had a blast. The staff was awesome and had no problems answering all of my questions. I loved the venue and the smell of the ocean all afternoon. Top notch experience! Thanks Jim, for making my first tournament experience a good one."

"I like it was on memorial day weekend. I hope you can have it again next year. The tourenment was run well and I hope to do some more of The Good Fight in the near future. See ya at the next one Jim!"

Vin Esposito

"I liked that that you were flexible enough to combine weight classes and divisions upon request."

Richard Bassett

"We did like that the event was on Memorial Day and that it was in a nice location as we stayed there the whole weekend."

Steve Holmes

"I thought the tournament went very well.  I thought it was very well organized. It was a great event and I will be participating next year."

Bob Reichanek

"Great location, very well organized, Finished in 4-5 hours with the adult divisions.  Everything was run well, had a great time and experience, will compete next year or possibly at your other tournaments!"

Matt Ruggiero

"I liked that it was on the boardwalk and I had a good time passing the time until my match. I also like that we could weigh-in in advance. It helps for people who are traveling far."

Jack Stern

"Thanks for putting together the tournament it was nice. I wish more girls would compete but that will come with time I'm sure. You have a very nice staff that represent the meaning behind "The Good Fight" that was nice to see."

Ry Freeman

"It was a nice event on a really nice day. The venue was very cool as it was on the boardwalk. I have never been to Ocean City so it was a nice experience."

Adam Liu

"The registration was fair and affordable for me.  This tournament was ran fast and efficient, which i liked.  It would be nice to see future tournaments go as smooth as this one.  I like that you run the gi divisions first then the no-gi.  the only thing I would like to see is a more difinitive weight class, but I understand that may be hard to accomplish due to the number of entrants.  So making fights happen is better than not fighting at all.  Thank you for the shirt and the medal was nice too.  See you at the next one!"

Robert Johnson - (Ricardo Almeida)

"I liked the set up in the music pier at ocean city. I liked how awards were anounced and how the event was organized."

Dan Cardamine

"Just wanted to say thanks!! Every thing was great; very well organized and as far as memorial day week end especially being on the pier it was good!! I had another good time! Also wanted to say thank you to the gentlman given out the medals for approaching me and keeping me in mind and offering me another oportunity for another fight, match. Please tell him once again thank you!! Unfortunatley I was not able to accept - do to damaging a rib and being I have a mma fight comming up in 2 weeks I did not wont to chance it. Thank you once again for a good time!! See you in July @ cherry hill. Also do you have any future mma fights comming up? If so i would be intrested! Thank you once again for a great time!!!"  KIRK

"The Ocean City Classic was the first tournament I have attended that was organized by The Good Fight.  The tournament was ran well and the level of competition was respectable.  These tournaments are well worth attending and gaining experience."

Sergio Esquivel - (Rodrigo Medeiros)

"Its long overdue but I hope to take a teammate to your New York Open tournament and I wouldn't feel right showing up without this.

Not sure if you even remember, but this is something I have to do. It is Mike Brenkert and I competed in the Langhorne and Ocean City tournaments. At the Ocean City one I lost my first match and pretended to be hurt as my opponent got his hand raised. Teen Expert Absolute Gi.

First of all I would like to say that I am very sorry for my actions at the Ocean City tournament. I was riding high off of 5 tournament wins since January and I was feeling way to overconfident. I was partying 2-3 times a week, eating unclean and training maybe 2 times a week. I was so full of myself that when I lost my first match in the gi division I couldn't bear it and pretended to have been hurt so it wouldn't seem like I legitimately lost, but I did.  The car ride home I was in some sort of shock...I couldn't believe what I had just done. I don't think have ever been more disgusted in myself than that day. It still gives me a bad feeling inside when I think about it, which is why It took me so long to write this.

Since that tournament I took 3 months off of training completely to re-evaluate everything. Even thinking about training would only bring me memories of the way I handled myself at that match and I could not stand it. That day I misrepresented my school and myself as a punk, and I hope I never do that again. I finally returned to training with a different mindset, I became extremely humble agian and stopped thinking of myself  as some bad ass. I eventually returned to competition in September and October and then finally, last weekend I achieved my dream since beginning this sport and won a NAGA championship belt. I don't think this would have been possible without being humbled in Ocean City."

"Jim, one again I wanted to tell you that we were very pleased with your orginization of the tournament and everything running smoothly. The classes started on time and everything was well ran. We hope to send Team Viper members to every tournament within a reasonable traveling distance which most of the planned events seem to be. I was wondering if you are going to have a spot on the site for the crowned rankings as the year goes on so teams and individuals can see where they sit? Thanks again and we'll see you in Jan at your Baltimore, MD tournament."

"Jim, Great tournament.  It was very well organized and fast moving.  I really liked the way you setup the brackets.  See you again in the near future."

Brian Edwards-Swamp Fox BJJ

"Thanks so much we really felt at home and the competetion was great the refs really were awesome everyone was so respectful we usually feel out of place at these events being straight up wrestlers but this was by far the best welcome we have had at any bjj event. looking forward to future events."

Coach Bain/Team Unbreakable/BFA

"I had a great time volenteering, working, and competing. I hope to do it again some time in the near future!"

Thanks, Jason Deere

"Hey Jim, I would like to thank the whole staff of The Good Fight for hosting the North Jersey State Championships; and for running it very efficently as usual. You guys are very caring for the competitors. I would like to say that I will recommend all of my teammates to compete for you because you give excellent prizes, such as the samurai swords. Thank you and see you at the Thanksgiving Throwdown. I enjoy competing for you guys so much."

NICHOLAS CAGGIA

TEAM ENDGAME

"Thanks Jim, I thought you ran a great tournament! I have competed in grapplers quest, and NAGA, and I thought yours can hang with the "big boys" of the sport! I thought the fact that you posted Videos of the mats was great too. This was my first blue belt tourney, and I was able to see my fights through your youtube site, which was great to show my friends. Thanks for the good work, and I will def do our tourneys in the future!"

Adam Peterson

"I thought the tournament setting was very nice, the setup was convenient and simple for the fighters and the spectators."

Dustin

"Hey Jim, just wanted to say that I was very impressed with the tournament this past weekend in Edison, NJ. Our school has only competed in the NAGA events, and honestly I have to say that this tournament was one of the best ran events I've seen. I really liked how you posted the bracketing and let the fighters know a rough estimate of when they would compete. This really allowed all the competitors to warm-up properly and get ready for their matches. I hope to see you in Williamstown for the next one!"

Michael Cofer

Owner/Head Instructor

Impulse Mixed Martial Arts

"Just wanted to say that I had a great time at the North Jersey Jiu Jitsu Championships. It was run very well and your staff was plesant to deal with. I especially like how all the matches are on video and posted. This is a great way to find areas of our games that we need to improve on."

Frank Welch

"I'd like to thank you for putting on your most recent tournament. You and your staff did a wonderful job and I am a proud supporter of your efforts and will continue to do so in the future."
